What’s up, my mobile detailing people!
Wayne back again with another detailing blogpost.
In this one, we’re talking about pricing. We’re talking about the money, the guap, the fetty, the cheese—whatever you want to call it.
A lot of detailers are scared to talk about pricing, but this is one of the most important parts of running a detailing business. If you don’t price correctly, you’ll work hard and still stay broke.
So today, I’m breaking down all my detailing packages, what they include, how long they take, and why they’re priced the way they are.
Let’s get into it.
Package #1: Express Wash (Cheapest Option)
The first package on my list is the Express Wash.
This is my most affordable service, but it still leaves the vehicle looking clean and presentable.
Pricing
- Sedans: $50
- SUVs & Trucks: $60
What’s Included
This is an exterior-only service, which includes:
- Wheels and rims cleaned
- Tires cleaned
- Exterior body wash
- Foam pre-soak
- Rinse
- Windows cleaned (exterior)
❌ No interior cleaning at all
This package is perfect for:
- Customers on a tight budget
- Vehicles that just need a quick exterior refresh
- People who want something simple and affordable
If money is tight, I still got you covered.
Package #2: The Boss Special (Inside & Out)
Next up is what I call the Boss Special.
Why the name?
Because the boss is outside, working hard, and wants his ride clean without going crazy on price.
Pricing
- Sedans: $75
- SUVs & Trucks: $85
- Lifted Vehicles: $100
- 3-Row Vehicles: $100
⚠️ All prices are based on condition — this is important.
What’s Included
This package includes interior and exterior cleaning:
Interior
- Vacuum
- Wipe down of surfaces
- Interior windows
- Floor mats cleaned
- Air freshener
Exterior
- Wheels & rims
- Tires
- Foam wash
- Rinse
- Exterior windows
This is one of my most popular packages.
Time Required
- Average: 45 minutes
- Can take up to 1 hour – 1.5 hours depending on condition
It’s fast, affordable, and leaves the car looking good.
Package #3: Boss Special + Spray Wax
This is an upgraded version of the Boss Special for customers who want extra shine and protection.
Pricing
- Sedans: $100
- SUVs & Trucks: $125
- Lifted Vehicles: $150
What’s Included
Everything from the Boss Special, plus:
- Spray wax application for added gloss and short-term protection
Sometimes, if I’m feeling generous and the vehicle is already in good shape, I’ll throw in the spray wax as a blessing. But normally, this is a paid upgrade.
This package is great for customers who want their car to stand out more without jumping into higher-tier services.
Package #4: Clay Bar & Wax
Now we’re getting into paint decontamination territory.
Pricing
- Sedans: $150
- SUVs & Trucks: $200
What’s Included
- Clay bar treatment to remove embedded contaminants
- Wax application for shine and protection
This service:
- Smooths out rough paint
- Removes bonded contaminants
- Prepares the surface for sealants or coatings
Important Note (Upsell Opportunity)
Clay barring marrs the paint slightly and creates micro-defects.
That’s why the proper upsell after a clay bar is polishing.
If you clay bar without polishing, you’re leaving money on the table.
Package #5: Interior Detail (My Specialty)
This is my favorite service and what I specialize in the most.
Starting Prices
- Sedans: Starting at $150
- SUVs & Trucks: Starting at $200
⚠️ Prices increase based on condition
Bad interiors can go up to:
- $300
- $400
- $500+
What’s Included
- Full interior shampoo
- Deep cleaning
- Extraction
- Detailed wipe-down
- Odor removal
This is not a wipe-down service.
This is a deep restoration clean.
If you’ve seen my photos or videos, you already know how we get down at Hunter’s Detailing.
Why “Starting Price” Matters
This is where many detailers mess up.
Some customers will say:
“You said $150.”
Yes — starting at $150.
That’s why I always:
- Stress condition-based pricing
- Ask for pictures before booking
Some people don’t send pictures because:
- They’re lazy
- They know the car is destroyed
If I arrive and the vehicle is way worse than described, the price changes.
Simple.
When Customers Downplay Condition
The biggest red flag phrase:
“It’s not that bad.”
I’ve heard that and showed up to:
- Mold
- Maggots
- Extreme filth
That’s why I push hard for pictures.
I don’t like wasting my time, and neither should you.
Package #6: Full Detail (The Big One)
The four words customers love to hear: Full Detail.
Pricing
- Sedans: $400
- SUVs & Trucks: $500
⚠️ Based on condition
What’s Included
- Engine bay cleaning
- Full interior shampoo & extraction
- Polish (for shine, not correction)
- Wax
- Wheels & tires cleaned and dressed
- Door jambs
- Cup holders
- Floor mats
- Air freshener
This is a complete transformation.
Paint correction and ceramic coating are separate upsells.
Most Expensive Job I’ve Done
The most I’ve charged for a single job was $500 for an interior.
That vehicle had:
- Mold
- Maggots
- Spiders
- Years of neglect
It took all day.
I had to cancel other jobs.
We wore sweaters and protective gear.
Some interiors cannot be fully restored.
That’s a hard lesson I learned.
Mobile Detailing Travel Fees
Distance matters.
Here’s how I look at it now:
- Extra 30 minutes: +$25
- 1 hour: +$100
- 1.5 hours or more: Only worth it if I’m making $1,000+
Driving far and undercharging is a mistake I’ve made — and learned from.
Pricing Is Always Evolving
I’m still learning.
I used to charge:
- $35 for the Boss Special
Now it’s:
- $75
- $85
- $100
And honestly?
I still don’t think I’m charging enough.
Pricing is something you constantly refine as you grow.
Final Thoughts
Pricing isn’t about being cheap.
It’s about knowing your worth and protecting your time.
